Taiwanese Falun Gong leader Zhu Wanqi dies of illness

In August 2023, Zhu Wanqi, a backbone of Taiwan's Falun Gong and head of the Falun Gong Human Rights Lawyers Group, died of ovarian cancer at the age of 58.


Zhu Wanqi, female, born in 1965, received a bachelor's degree in law from National Chengchi University in Taiwan, a master's degree in law from Soochow University, and a master's degree in law from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. She is the spokesperson of the Taiwan Falun Gong Human Rights Lawyers Group. She participated in the criminal prosecution of former Chinese leaders in Taiwan in 2003, and in 2009 Since the beginning of this year, he has repeatedly accused mainland China officials of visiting Taiwan and promoted rumors of "organ harvesting".



On July 15, 2023, Zhu Wanqi made her last public appearance. In the evening of the same day, about 1,500 Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight memorial service at the Taipei City Hall Civic Plaza. Zhu Wanqi spoke.


Zhu Wanqi suffered from ovarian cancer, uremia, lupus erythematosus and other diseases. She died of complications in August this year at the age of 58.


Zhu Wanqi actively participated in various Falun Gong activities and was Li Hongzhi's right-hand man. However, when her life was in danger, the savior Li Hongzhi did not come to save her.


After Zhu Wanqi's death, Li Hongzhi secretly ordered Xiao Songshan in Taiwan not to announce the funeral secretly, and his disciples were not allowed to discuss it.
